When the Plumber Leaves the Old Tank Behind

A lot of water heater swaps end with the old tank standing in the basement or garage because nobody wanted to haul it. Tanks are heavy, awkward and still hold sediment and water at the bottom.

JUNKED. carries out old water heaters that have already been disconnected and drained, and hauls them away. If you’re clearing the rest of the basement too, we take it all in one trip.

What We Take

We pick up:

  • Gas and electric tank water heaters, disconnected and drained
  • Old expansion tanks and loose pipe
  • Water softener tanks and old filter housings
  • Boxes, shelving and clutter from around the utility area
  • Old sump pumps and dehumidifiers

We don’t disconnect gas lines, water lines or wiring. That has to be done by a licensed plumber or your installer first.

Before We Arrive

To get the tank ready:

  • Have a licensed plumber disconnect the gas or electric supply and the water lines.
  • Drain the tank fully. Sediment and leftover water make it much heavier and messier.
  • Cap or tape the openings if you can.
  • Clear a path from the tank to the door and let us know about the stairs.

Where Old Tanks Go

Water heaters are mostly steel with a glass lining and some copper and brass fittings, so most of the weight is metal that can be recycled.

We donate and recycle what we can and haul away the rest.

We handle water heater removal in Peters Township, South Fayette, Mt. Lebanon and Cecil Township, plus every town in our service area, about 15 miles around Canonsburg.
